Eligibility:

The Center for Global Understanding (CFGU) has partnered with The Washington Center (TWC) to assist us in evaluating the eligibility of the CFGU applicants for its Washington D.C. Internship program. All interns must meet the eligibility criteria per TWC policy which can be found at their website www.twc.edu.

If you are applying through an accredited US institution to any program except the Postgraduate Professional Development Program, you must:

• Be a US Citizen to qualify for CFGU scholarship funds.


• Be enrolled in an accredited college or university as a second semester sophomore or above during the term of your internship. Graduate students receiving credit are also eligible.

• Maintain a grade point average of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Your application MAY be considered with a third letter of recommendation if your GPA is below 2.75. Students with GPA’s lower than 2.75 are encouraged to submit their applications early. Higher GPAs (minimum 3.0) may be required for federal agencies such as the U.S. Departments of Justice and State, the U.S. Attorney's Office, and the Cable News Network (CNN).

• Receive academic credit from your college or university for your participation in the Internship Program. The Washington Center does not grant academic credit.

• Receive the endorsement of your campus liaison, or, if your institution does not have a campus liaison, the endorsement of a faculty sponsor.
